Anushka goes retro

The makers of the romantic-thriller Bombay Velvet have got the rights of the iconic Geeta Dutt song Jaata Kahaan Hain Diwane from the Dev Anand starrer CID. The original song was picturised on the legendary Waheeda Rehman, has been re-versioned with a more contemporary feel and has been picturised on Anushka Sharma who plays a 60s superstar singer named Rosie Noronha. In fact, it is by singing Jaata Kahaan Hain that Rosie gets noticed as a singer in a club and becomes the marquee performer at Johnny Balraj's (played Ranbir Kapoor) Bombay Velvet. The blockbuster CID was released in 1956 and the song was a roaring superhit. Looks like the makers of Bombay Velvet are leaving no stones unturned to capture the look and feel of the era in which the film is set.

Set against the backdrop of ambition, love, greed, and jazz - Bombay Velvet is the story of one ordinary man who goes against all odds and forges his destiny to become a ‘Big Shot’. Jazz clubs, a passionate love story, a growing metropolis and a phenomenal hunger for a good life. Welcome to the City of Dreams. Welcome to Bombay Velvet.
